Olaf Scholz is a German politician who served as the Chancellor of Germany from 2021 to 2025. From 2018 to 2021, he held the positions of Vice Chancellor and Federal Minister of Finance in the fourth Merkel cabinet. From 2011 to 2018, Scholz served as the First Mayor of Hamburg, leading the city’s government and representing its interests at the national level. He is a member of the Social Democratic Party (SPD). As Chancellor, Scholz led a coalition government known as the “traffic light coalition” comprising the SPD, Alliance 90/The Greens, and the Free Democratic Party.
