James Madison was the fourth President of the United States, serving from 1809 to 1817. Madison was a small-statured man, but he had a significant impact on American history. He was a skilled politician and statesman, serving as Secretary of State under Thomas Jefferson before becoming President. During his presidency, he oversaw the War of 1812 against Britain.
