Lori Lightfoot is an American politician and attorney who served as the 56th mayor of Chicago from 2019 to 2023. She made history by becoming the first Black woman and first openly LGBTQ+ person to hold the office. Before stepping into politics, Lightfoot worked as an assistant US attorney and partner at Mayer Brown, investigating corruption and police misconduct.
